Bigga B
"Unity," was the title of a
series of Hip Hop concerts in the Los Angeles area. The shows
brought many artists together for a rather affordable ticket price. In
fact they were never more than $15 each. Unity was also the soul of one
man who did more than just organize these concerts or do A&R at
Loud Records. Bill Operin AKA Bigga B, embodied the very essence of
untiy.
The theme of unity spread to daily life as he brought artists together
outside of the Concert Series. Artists Like Muggs, GZA, Infamous Mobb
and Chace Infinite. Without Bigga B's input, projects such as Muggs
"Soul Assassins Vol. 1," Muggs and GZA's "Grandmasters," album or the
creation of Angeles Records may never have happened. He fostered
relationships that built these albums and label.
May 2, 1999 while in Arizona working with new artist Bad Azz, Bigga B
suffered a heart attack. His legacy in Hip Hop lives on through the
memories of the Unity Concert Series, the many artists he served as
A&R for on Loud Records and all the resulting projects owed to his
introduction of artists to one another.
