Lynne Thigpen
The Warriors are trying desperately to make it back to Coney Island, after being framed for the death of Osirus. "Can you dig it?" All throughout the ordeal a radio announcer/DJ keeps the world abreast of this desperate retreat for safety... That voice.. those lips... Who would've thought they'd become more prominently known as "The Chief" on "Where in the world is Carmen San Diego!?!?"?
Born Cherlynne Theresa Thigpen December 22, 1948 in Joliet, IL, Lynne had her sites on acting, though orignally graduating with a teaching degree and teaching high school briefly while studying acting and dance at University of Illinios. 1971 she'd leave Illinios for NY and a rather prolific carer in theater, starting with the musical Godspell in 1973. Coincidently her first film would be an adaptation of htevery same musical, in 1973, as well.
Best known for her role as "The Chief" in the children's geography game-show, "Where in the world is Camren San Diego!?!?!", Thigpen also did voice-overs as "Luna" for "Bear in the Big Blue House", and also over 20 socially relevant books-on-tape. Her last movie role would be in Anger Management, released April 11, 2003. Also notable is her role as "Ella Farmer" on CBS' "The District". At the time of her death, the series would also have a funeral for her character, as well. The seriies never did survive the loss of her character was eventually cancelled. Plans for filming of "Bear in the Big Blue House" movie were also cancelled after Lynne's death, citing Tara Moorey as saying, people's "hearts just weren't into it anymore".
Cherlynne Theresa Thigpen died of a cerebral hemmorrhage March 12, 2003.
