Mausberg
Notorious
B.I.G. will be forever in the minds of anyone, as the quintessential NY
MC. Big in stature, and even bigger in persona. Many might argue that
Tupac Shakur was the West Coast equivelant, but there are those who
stand by thier beliefs that a member of DJ Quik's camp was the real the
West Coast version of Biggie Smalls.
Standing at 6'3" tall, weighing at around 275 pounds, Mausberg held a
commanding stance. Anytime he was out on the block with others, it's
been said they all looked up at him. This tall, dark, bald man forever
dressed in red t-shirts, black jeans and brown cowboy boots took center
stage as a king in the Compton landscape. Better yet, his polite,
humble, kind, gentle manner made you feel like he was your best friend.
Constantly on the go with Quik's crew, he was just getting ready to
finish his album when on July 5, 2000 he was shot twice. Johnny Burns
aka Mausberg will live on in recordings such as, 'Shut Up,' 'The
Re-Birth,' 'Rythm-a-lizm,' 'Change the game,' 'Speak on it,' 'Balance
and Options,' 'Well' and '220.'
